Poll Watcher
Poll watchers are selected by appointment. In primary elections, a poll watcher must submit to the polling inspector a written appointment
signed by a candidate. Code of Alabama, §17-13-11. In general
elections, a watcher must be appointed by the chairman of the party’s county executive
committee, or by a nominee, or by a beat committeeman. Code of Alabama, §17-8-7(a).
To be a poll watcher in Alabama, a person must be a resident and qualified elector
of the state. Code of Alabama, §17-8-7(c).
